A Travel to Korea with Mi-Sun Chang
Mi-Sun Chang is a great textile artist and teacher from Korea. I had a pleasure to meet her at EPM 2019 at France and see her beautiful masterpieces.
Mi-Sun Chang takes inspiration from Korean culture and history. Her exhibition is called A Travel To Korea and features art quilts that express great love and appreciation to her country.
She looked so pretty in her traditional outfit. As if she just stepped out from one of her beautiful works.
Traditional Korean architecture and furniture take a special place in Mi-Sun’s art as well as in her heart.
I love how she captured textures of wood and stone.
When I asked which of quilts was her favorite she couldn’t choose and answered simply: All of them are my babies, so I love them equally.
Her works feature tremendous amount of details, beautiful embroidery and applique. She is very creative and inventive with her techniques and materials.
Mi-Sun Chang’s quilts have and astonishing depth and sense of movement in them. They appear to be three-dimensional.
