Meeting Italian quilter Marirosa Tardivello at EPM 2019
It’s never too late – is the name of Marirosa’s collection and her message to creative souls. It’s never too late to find your creative self, learn new things and celebrate life full of wonderful discoveries.
Marirosa Tardivello entered a world of quilting quite late, at age of 66 and she has been enjoying her art ever since. Patchwork and hand applique became her passion and favourite daily routine for the last seven years.
Her beautiful works feature astonishing amount of details. She likes warm colors of autumn and chooses her fabrics for each project very carefully. She prefers fabrics by Moda.
She loves intricate highly detailed applique and her husband kindly helps her to create paper templates for applique. He is an architect and uses AutoCad software to design precise shapes. The templates may be resized and printed.
Each quilt usually takes Marirosa a year or two to finish. The quilt Les Hexagons took her nine month, it was a present for her daughter.
It took three kilometres of thread to quilt this beautiful masterpiece.
All of Marirosa’s quilts are quilted by Vania Bailo, professional longarm quilter.
Creating her own masterpieces Marirosa takes inspiration from works of her favourite artist Di Ford.
I’m so pleased that I had a chance to see all of this beautiful quilts with my own eyes and talk with their creator. I can’t thank her enough for all the inspiration she gives me. To see more of Marirosa Tardivello’s quilts, please, visit her Facebook.
