DIY Portable Ironing Board
Super cute portable ironing board with a hanger. Fast and easy to make. I like the fact that I managed to recycle some materials and had fun making the board. And hey, it costed me 0$. This is also nice.
Here are the materials I used:
- Cotton fabrics
- Piece of old muslin fabric
- Old cotton towel
- Piece of webbing strap
- Piece of board
Tools:
- Hot glue gun or staple gun
- Scissors
- Needle & Thread
- Pins
- Lighter or matches
I used a hot glue gun to attach the towel to the board. But staple gun would be preferable I think. There was two layers of towel. The first layer was wrapped around the board tightly and glued on two sides (pic. 1 and 2). The second layer was square piece of towel. I trimmed the corners, fold them and glued along the edges of the towel (pic. 3 and 4).
And here is the result.
Next I wrapped the board in a piece of old muslin. Glued one side.
Then I tagged gently on the fabric from the opposite side, fold and glued it in place.
I did the same for the two other sides.
Here we go, ready for the final wrapping 😊.
I had only a small piece of cotton so I decided to use a gift wrapping technique that is particularly helpful when you are short of wrapping paper. The best if you have square board and square piece of fabric and place the board diagonally. Then the corners of fabric would meet right in the center of the board after folding.
Both the fabric and the board were facing the right side down.
I placed my board diagonally on the fabric. Folded the edges and pinned them in place. My piece of fabric was rectangular so the corners didn’t meet at the center of the board, but that’s ok.
Then I sewed by hand along the edges of the fabric turning 1/4” in. To speed up the process you can glue or staple it.
Cut about 7” of webbing strap. Used a lighter to prevent edges from unfolding. Pinned the webbing strap to the back side of the board about 1” from the edge. Glued in place.
My beautiful portable pressing board is finished! Yippee!
It is so cute. I love the color, size and the hanger.
The color is really nice and looks great on photos.
That’s it for today! See you around!
