Project instructions for machine embroidery appliqué:

1) The first thing is to stitch onto the base fabric a placement line that traces the shape for the appliqué.

2) Choose an appliqué big enough to cover the placement line.

3) Place it on the base fabric completely covering the placement line. Tape it in place to prevent shifting.

4) Stitch a cutting line that tacks the appliqué fabric down onto the base fabric.

5) After it is done, take your embroidery hoop out of the machine and trim the excess fabric away as close as possible. Do not remove the design from the hoop! It is best to use double curved scissors for trimming the machine sewn appliqué.

6) Put your hoop back in the machine and continue embroidering the design. The color change sheet shows the stitching order and the different thread colors. If the design has various pieces, you may need to repeat the steps for each appliqué.
