Brother at 13th Prague Patchwork Meeting 2019
As an owner of several Brother sewing and embroidery machines I naturally was interested to see what exhibits they have at the 13th Prague Patchwork Meeting 2019. I only share my own opinion on the products and the information I learned from Brother experts at PPM 2019. I have also done some research on models that I find interesting or new for me and worth mentioning. Please note, that this is not paid advertisement.
There was variety of sewing, quilting, embroidery machines and supplies, and also cutting and even felting machines. But first of all I wanted to show you a nice quilt they made!
And I earn two machines from the selection!
Sergers
Well, I’ll tell you a secret. I’ve never tried a serger before. And they look like a great fun.
Apparently they are used to sew, finish the seam and trim the seam allowance all in one step. They create soft and stretchy seams, give neat and professional finish to garments and other projects and prevent fabrics from fraying. There are variety of stitches and options depending on the model.
I think about making more research on the subject and maybe buying one later. I always wanted to try sewing pyjamas and underwear, and stretchy fabrics require a serger. Hmm, it just occurred to me that I could even embroider them to make extraspecial.
Needle Felting & Embellishing Machines
Needle felting machines use number of needles to join materials together by drawing fibres of upper layers to the underneath layers. This allow to apply different types of embellishment: felt, raw wool, yarn, fabric, ribbon, etc. Very similar to a needle felter, but much faster. The machine can also be used to create interesting distressed textures on various types of fabrics such as denim or organza. I think it may be very nice tool for those who are interested in textile art and creation of textured fabrics. It definitely allows to safe on time and efforts and boost one’s creativity.
This is Merrylock SP1100.
Cutting Machines
I’ve been thinking about buying a cutting machine for a half of the year now. You see, I create digital embroidery but I also create all the art (vector or raster) for my projects before I digitize them into actual embroidery formats. And it would be nice use my drawings and templates for cutting machines so they could serve me even more. I’ve been interested in Cricut and Silhouette cutting machines as they are the most popular and affordable, but it was also nice to take a look at this one:
Brother ScanNCut DX SDX1200
All the petals of the rosette have been cut with the cutting machine.
Embroidery Machines
The was huge variety of embroidery machines and combos at the PPM 2019.
And here is Innov-is XP-1 Luminaire. I think it was the most expensive Brother embroidery machine at the PPM 2019. Well, nice looking one. Huge embroidery hoop. This model is one needle machine for a home use. I love this beauty, but regarding the price I would also suggest that maybe a multineedle professional machine for small businesses would be a better choice.
Beautiful Innov-is XP-1 Luminaire
And at the end I’d like to thank Roman, a Brother specialist who was very helpful and kindly showed me some of the machines and explained they features.
That’s it for today! Hope some of this information will get you inspired.
Love,
Jo
