Trying a Longarm Machine for the First Time
This month I’ve tried a longarm machine quilting for the first time and it was a great fun.
First, I’ve tried quilting on PFAFF fabric frame, you now, the one that can be used with a regular sewing machine. What a great idea!
I was surprised how easy and smooth the movement was. There are my very first flimsy feathers (sort of).I’ve get really interested in the frame construction because it looked like something that could be an easy DIY project. The only one thing that bothers me is the way the quilt has to be attached to the frame. The metal clips and belts look as if they may damage fabric and getting a project into the frame looks like a bit of a pain. And there are no hooks or rollers to prevent larger quilts from draping on the floor. I also had an impression that there are too many junctions and the construction may not be that steady for the years to come, hope that I’m wrong. Anyway, very interesting and affordable product.
After this I naturally wanted to try something else and was happy to find this beauty waiting for me. This is JUKI 2200QVP, a gorgeous machine. It was a love from the first sight. I don’t know much about longarms, but one can obviously recognize a quality product. And this babe is a heavy duty. I loved the frame – this one looks as if it would last centuries. Well, this was fun, maybe one day I will be interested enough in longarm quilting to attend classes and probably own such a machine.
Yours truly,
Jo
